My run as AV Systems Engineer with FIRST Agency — supporting Google's Chelsea Market campus — wrapped in July 2026. I'm taking on new broadcast and AV engineering work while I keep the weekly podcast on air.
Hi, I'm Billy. I'm an AV Systems Engineer based in Mineola, NY. Through July 2026 I was with FIRST Agency, supporting Google's Chelsea Market campus full-time across 8510, 9th, 315 Hudson, and RDS, with some coverage at Pier 57 and Saint John's Terminal. I've spent the last decade and a half engineering control rooms, editing news segments, switching live broadcasts, and turning around critical malfunctions before anyone in the audience notices.
My first edit was in iMovie at age six. By 13 I was running cameras at Great Neck Public Schools Television, technical-directing a live morning show on Blackmagic ATEM 1 switchers. I've worked on Fox News, NY1, Newsmax, and Spectrum News in Albany, edited packages that reached hundreds of thousands of viewers, covered breaking news on the streets of Manhattan during the October 2017 World Trade Center attack, and built podcast studios from scratch in Bronx living rooms.
Across four years with FIRST I moved from AV Technician at Pier 57 to IT Systems Engineer to AV Systems Engineer at Chelsea Market — administering KVM networks, running incident response through the 2024 CrowdStrike outage, and standing up productions from the ground up in soundstages. That chapter closed in July 2026.
Alongside the day job I've always run projects of my own: Engineer / Operator for The Tea Room with Talia Reese every Wednesday, studio builds for independent podcasters, and an analog-archive transfer bench that's been running for years. I believe in calm under pressure, building airtight standards, sharing knowledge openly, and shipping clean work.

I've handled technical production end-to-end since November 2024: audio, video, signal flow, recurring segments, guest support, and distribution to Apple Podcasts, Spotify, and YouTube.
Built a podcast studio from scratch, converting bedrooms in a Bronx family home into a dedicated control room and live set. Integrated AIDA cameras over NDI with Bitfocus Companion and switched the show live in vMix — supporting Hutchinson Boyd's disability-representation work through D-Voyant and Black Maverick Comics.
This site runs on a Synology DS1819 I administer myself — nginx in Docker, TLS at the edge, and an nginx-RTMP ingest path so an OBS stream can go live on the homepage in seconds. Deployed from VS Code over SSH with a single keystroke.
A home transfer bench for families and small clients — VHS, MiniDV, Hi8, and DVD digitized over Firewire and mastered to H.264. Seven-plus years of tape handling, deck maintenance, and rescuing recordings nobody else could read. 5★ on Thumbtack.
Shot the annual ballet performance multi-camera on Sony NX-5, Canon G30 Vixia, Zoom H6, and Sony NEX-7. Handled VHS → DVD digitization and DVD-Video / H.264 mastering, then moved the studio onto digital advertising and an active social presence.
Mentored students on the Chairman's Award video, team website, and YouTube channel. Covered competitions for Facebook and YouTube, ran Adobe Media Encoder conversions, and interviewed team members from programs around the world.
Produced Tumblr blog imagery for a PBS client — Photoshop manipulation and layout — with Google Drive workflows moving images cleanly across multiple workstations.
