My name is Billy Miecuna, and I am a proud graduate of the New York Institute of Technology in Manhattan. I have built a diverse career in broadcast, audiovisual, multimedia, and live streaming applications. Currently, I serve as a Computing Systems Engineer (Broadcast IT Engineer) at FIRST Global Brand Experience Agency, located at Pier 57 in New York City, where I support Google.
My journey into the world of digital media began at an early age. I started experimenting with iMovie and Photoshop when I was just six years old, quickly developing a passion for creativity and storytelling through video. My fascination with MiniDV and Hi8 camcorders sparked a lifelong interest in capturing moments and crafting narratives.
In 2011, I joined Great Neck Public Schools Television and began formal training in Television Production and Digital Filmmaking at South Middle School. This experience allowed me to work at one of the oldest public access stations in the country, where I was part of a dedicated production team from 8th to 12th grade. I contributed to district-wide broadcasts and gained valuable experience in a multi-camera studio, technical directing HTV School News, and operating a five-camera television truck.
My professional journey continued with an internship at NY1 News in 2017, where I assisted field production crews on breaking news stories across New York City. I then joined the Fox News Channel through their College Associate Program, where I edited videos for Fox News and Fox Business and operated robotic cameras for daytime programming. In 2019, I took on a role as a Master Control Operator at Spectrum Networks in Albany, NY, overseeing multiple news channels and coordinating broadcasts for a new station.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, I pivoted towards opportunities in live streaming and virtual events. I worked as a freelancer at Wall Street Webcasting, Bitstaff Consulting, and OpenExchange, focusing on live streaming and videoconferencing integration. This role allowed me to collaborate with C-level executives on a variety of events, including board meetings and industry conferences, while honing my video editing skills for high-profile clients such as Dell and Xylem.
After leaving OpenExchange in December 2021, I briefly worked as a transmission operator at Maslow Media Group, managing live broadcasts for Newsmax TV and utilizing advanced broadcast-level videoconferencing equipment.
In April 2022, I joined FIRST Agency as an Audiovisual Conference Technician, where I provided exceptional support to VIP clients using videoconferencing technology and collaborated with team leads and event planners to ensure seamless execution of corporate meetings and live events. I have recently transitioned into my current role as a Computing Systems Engineer, where I continue to deliver critical support in the Pier 57 AV Engineering Department.
Beyond my professional pursuits, I am an avid swimmer, hiker, and proud dog owner, always seeking to create a positive impact both in my work and in my personal life.
